Is it just me, or does the government now have even more power to determine who lives and who dies?
I wasn’t really that interested in the Iowa governor candidate campaigns until I ran across this article, which informed me that Nussle apparently wants to put restrictions on abortion.
Nussle is all about minors needing parental permission to get abortions. Question: why should they need parental permission if they don’t need this permission to get pregnant in the first place?
In addition, Nussle apparently would prefer a ban like South Dakota, because their ban is so great and really allows women equal rights and all. Nothing like denying doctors the right to perform a medical procedure.
Jim Nussle is calling for new restrictions on abortion. But the Republican candidate for governor isn’t saying if he’d sign a ban similar to the one in South Dakota.
Nussle said it’s unlikely a closely divided Legislature would send him a sweeping ban, so there’s no use speculating about it.
Yep, no use speculating, though clearly he already has if he’s come to a conclusion like this about it.
I’m tired of Iowa’s backwoods image, and bans on women’s rights like these will only promote it. You can argue that minors are “girls,” not women, and you’d be right. Maybe they shouldn’t be allowed to get abortions without parental permission. But my question is what comes next? An overall abortion ban, kind of like South Dakota’s? It’s apparently on Nussle’s mind. Or maybe we could regulate who gets birth control! Or we could just stop reproducing and clone the “good” people!
I suppose everyone has the right to life, but is life worth living without choices, which even Neo from The Matrix stated is what makes us human? Of course, if choices are what make us human, then I guess the fetus is not human yet, which is kind of controversial. There’s an argument for ya. I don’t know what I actually believe, but I suppose that’s a fun new angle.
Iowa: fields of opportunities…if you’re a white guy.
I’ve got three words for you: Utah.
I guess that was only one word.
I would agree, of course. I think I’ll be voting for Culver when the time comes (as Fallon lost in the primaries).
Utah: where men are men, and women know better.
;)
