I’m not a happy camper.

So I’m starting to warm up to the wackinest that is Utah, but I think it’d be a lot (A LOT) easier if I could tolerate my neighborhood. Let’s see…mostly it’s the incessant music coming from the neighboring townhouse. I feel like I live there. And I HATE their music. I hate it. I actually called the landlord today, but he’s out of town. On vacation. Sounds like a rich person thing to do.

I tried to do some reading today, but the constant carnival-like music coming through my wall was too annoying. Then I sorta yelled something along the lines of “turn that down” and the music actually got a few decibels quieter. But I’m betting that’s coincidence because I wasn’t that loud. Not loud enough to be heard above the racket, at least. Maybe this would be a bit easier if I weren’t freaking out about the summer here, when I’m sure the friendly bee/wasps will be back living in our house. It’s like the equivalent of inviting a serial killer into your home, that’s the sort of nerve-wracking those stupid insects are to me.

Is it ever possible to just complain enough that your landlord decides it would just be easier to let you move? It’s almost like I should be trying to get evicted, which is what the duck people did. But I don’t think it worked. In a way, I miss the duck neighbors. Nearly. In comparison to the new neighbors, only. At least the police haven’t come to visit the new neighbors yet. Although lord only knows what the sound of that music is covering up over there.

  1. Hello, and let me just get this out of the way: I am not a creepy stalker or a female version of The Cable Guy. I’ll admit that I’m not always nice to my in-laws and and I have some overdue library books, but other than that I am a pretty nice person.

Okay, now that I have that out of the way…I found your blog (while searching for something so meaningless I’ve now forgotten what) and was pleasantly surprised to see that you are in the Phd program in Tech Comm at Utah State! Wow! That’s great! I just last year completed the online master’s program in Technical Writing there. I actually flew from Ohio to participate in commencement (which was my first time on campus). I love your blog and I hope you don’t mind if I lurk now and then — just to see what it’s like to be in the Phd program (and to get a few laughs — you crack me up!) Keep writing!
