I have no title for this.

I’ve been watching a lot of American Idol recently. Yes, this is embarrassing. I’ve been trying to figure out why I keep coming back to watch this show when most of the time I actually sort of hate it. Especially last week, which was country week. Granted, some people can sing country. Some can even sing it well. A few even sound pleasing to me. None of these people are currently AI contestants, of course. Yet, I only muted the television once the other night during a strange version of a Johnny Cash song that freaked me out…

Anyway, so I’ve been wondering why I keep watching it, and today I figured it out. On the show, people get rejected a lot. Every week. And never, never ever, is it me getting this horrible news. Nope. Also, I like to think how if Ryan Seacrest can succeed in life, I at least have a sporting chance. So there you have it. I enjoy watching the misery of others. This is also why I’m a teacher. And why I watch Hell’s Kitchen.

  1. I used to watch Hell’s Kitchen all the time. I used to watch it in the hopes that the bleeper people maybe might have missed one of the F words that came in a steady stream out of Ramsey’s mouth and we would get to hear the F word on regular TV. I’m pretty messed up.
